Simple Past Tense

Simple Past Tense or Past Indefinite: -:

It is used to talk about an action or event that was completed in the past.

Identity– The Hindi sentences having'आ', 'या ', 'ई ', 'ये','यो',

 'ता था', 'ते थे ', 'ती थी' in their end are Past IndefiniteTenses.

 

इस टेंस के वाक्यों मे काम का करना या होना भूतकाल मे पाया जाता है।

 

पहचान: इन वाक्यों के अन्त मे 'आ', 'या ', 'ई ', 'ये','यो', 'ता था', 'ते थे ', 'ती थी' आते हैं |

                 Structure:   Sub + MV + Object.

 

Point to be noticed-

•  In this tense the main verb is used in the past form (V2).

• While making a negative statement ‘Did not’ is used as a helping verb with all subjects

•  We always used the (v1) form with did because did is already a second form

•  In the last of the Hindi sentences, we find (या, था /

थी/थे)|

 

Sentence Structures:

·          Positive Statement Structure

                                       S+ MV+O.

                              I had pizza at the party.

                               मैंने party में पिज़ा खाया था |

·         Negative Statement Structure

                             S + HV + NOT + MV + O.

                           You did not call me there.

                         आपने मुझे वहाँ नहीं बुलाया था |

 

·          Positive Question Structure

                              HV + S+ MV + O?

                      Did she join the meeting?

                 क्या उसने meeting join की थी?

 

·         Negative Question Structure

                           HV+S + NOT+ MV + O?

                        Did they not have supper?

                क्या उन्होने रात का भोजन नहीं किया था?

 

·         Positive Question with Question Word Structure

                   WH Word+ HV+S + MV + O +?

                         When did I punish him?

                            मैंने उसे कब सज़ा दी?

 

·          Negative Question with Question Word Structure

               WH Word + HV + S +NOT + MV + O +?

                      Why did you not play guitar?

                      तुमने guitar क्यो नहीं बजाया?
